Adjustments & Manipulation

The term chiropractic "adjustment" refers to the use of a high velocity, short lever arm thrust, in a specific direction, applied to a vertebra or other joints in the body that have abnormal movement patterns, become fixated (locked up) and fail to function normally.

Joints, bones, muscles, nerves, and connective tissue make up your musculoskeletal system and its optimal function is necessary for your overall good health.  When the 24 bones that house and protect the spinal cord lose their normal motion or position, delicate nerve tissue can become choked or irritated resulting in improper nerve function. If a complete and thorough examination reveal malfunctioning areas of your spine, chiropractic adjustments may help correct this condition.

The objective of the chiropractic treatment/adjustment is to help normalize spinal function and joint mobility, reduce the subluxation, (return the bones to a more normal motion or position),  thus improving nervous system function. In this way the body can begin the natural healing process, resulting in an increased range of motion, reduced nerve irritability, relieving pain and ill health.

The adjustment may be accompanied by an audible release of gas (joint cavitation). The audible sound is caused by the release of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide, which releases joint pressure (cavitation).

There are many ways to adjust the spine. Dr Espinoza utilizes the Pierce Stillwagon and Palmer methods of adjusting the spine and other joints of the body, which is precise and tailored to each individuals unique subluxations.  Dr. Espinoza had delivered adjustments to newborns, children of all ages and the eldest in our senior population to help reduce the nerve interference caused by subluxations and return to each individual a properly functioning nervous system thereby allowing their body to function at it’s best and restoring to each their quality of life.

Chiropractic care is a branch of the healing arts based upon the understanding that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system (especially the spine, and the nerves extending from the spine to all parts of the body). "Chiropractic" comes from the Greek word chiropraktikos, meaning "effective treatment by hand." Chiropractic stresses the idea that the cause of many disease processes begins with the body's inability to adapt to its environment. Chiropractors via the chiropractic adjustment  look to address these diseases not by the use of drugs and chemicals, but by locating and adjusting a musculoskeletal area of the body which is functioning improperly.
